Moana 2 not likely to happen

The ending of moana seems openended but the poor performance relative to the budget may cause the sequel to be cancelled.

Sing opened later and got a sequel for 2020 despite it being terrible compared to moana.

Your parents were obviously siblings born of an affair with a man and his own mother.

No, that's what you do with your own inbred sister and dog every night.

It's performance isn't poor at all.
By the way, I don't mind if they won't make a sequel.

reply

Its performance wasn't poor, and I don't see why a sequel would be made either way.

reply

I don't think it was that open ended at all. The threat to the world was ended. Moana saved her people and returned them to their seafaring tradition.

Could there be other stories about Moana? Maybe, but the ending does not by any means demand them.

And of course Sing already has a sequel planned. Illumination is a new studio, so they're still dependent on building franchises to sell their films. Disney is a recognizable brand of its own. They do not need every film to launch a franchise, because the Disney brand already has the name recognition needed to sell the film.

reply

Illumination doesn't seem to "need" sequels, either. Sing and SloP are both original, smashing financial successes.

reply

So are Zootopia and Moana.

Moana will barely break even at est and may lose money at worst. Thats not a success.

Whatever losses are easily covered by rogue one but your whining isnt making moana a hit.

reply

Moana IS a hit, you inbred moron.

Wreck-It-Ralph is getting a sequel and Moana has already made more money than that film. However a sequel to Ralph makes sense as there is so much potential, Moana really doesn't have much more for a sequel personally. Disney will probably produce a series of shorts or even a TV series, it doesn't seem like they are making sequels for the sake of it.

reply

Wreck it ralph 2 was under a pay AND play contract for john c reily, guarenteeing that one would be made. Moana has no such provision.

reply

Why does it not surprise me that a guy born of sibling parents has no idea how the industry works? If Wreck-It Ralph flopped, there would be NO sequel coming, contracts be damned. You think Hugh Jackman didn't have a contract for more Van Helsing films? Did they ever happen? No.

Again, you sound like you got issues.

Saw 6 flopped and the seventh one was still made. The third divergent film flopped and a fourth film is still coming. Wolverine was a domestic flop and yet logan is still coming out.

Antman at the very least heavily underperformed and it still got a sequel. Fast and furious tokyo drift flopped and more films were still made.

So no, a film's box office performance doesn't always affect future sequels.

reply

The only one here with issues is you, wallfish. Look, you might think you have me roped in with your trolling, but you and your other two sock accounts here are my playthings.

Saw 6 was a part of an already successful series, as were Fast and Furious: Tokyo Drift, The Wolverine, and Divergent. The situation is different there, because the companies that made them had made far too much money into prior titles in those respective franchise to just give up at the first sign of trouble.

Ant-Man DID NOT underperform. It actually exceeded expectations and made a good buck. Now I know you're QueenFanUSA.

It does to a standalone film that isn't any part of a prior series/franchise.

Saw 6 made $68 million on an $11 million budget according to boxofficemojo.com, it made profit.
and the fate of the 4th film of the Divergent series is still unknown. They don't want to make a 4th one due to poor box office performance. There were rumors that the 4th one might be a TV movie which means a much smaller budget.

reply

I think Disney will be open to it, especially considering the added Oscar and other Award-type attention. They made back their money, and then some, plus gave a whole race of girls their own princess to adore. The movie was mostly a success.

Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.

Moana 2 isn't gonna happen because Disney will be focusing on Frozen 3. 
