shareI think iZombie has a tighter script and better acting, but The Messengers definitely has an interesting concept.
CW's choice to premiere this show in Mid-April on Friday nights is just baffling. I realize all their new shows did well this year, but why take a 13-episode already produced show with so much money in it and dump it where it's certain to get terrible ratings?? Why not just hold it until the Fall, or even just premiere it as a true summer show after the regular season ends?
The only thing I can think of is there is some BTS production issues that will become apparent in later eps that made the network feel the show would do terribly regardless of its scheduling...
The advantage of Friday nights is that the expectations are much lower. The people running the networks know that Friday night shows get crappy ratings, but they still have to run something during those timeslots. Plenty of Friday shows with crappy ratings get renewed, for that reason alone. Sometimes it's cheaper/easier to renew an existing show than it is to come up with a new show to replace it.
