Pearls before swine

It is unfortunate that this show had to incorporate so much swill in order to attract the unwashed dregs of humanity which are necessary to turn a profit or to at least break even.

This could have been a great show but instead we have this.

"To Serve Man" - It's a cookbook.
"Soylent Green is people!"

You're as over dramatic as the director of the ballet.

The show failed because it's really bad, not because of the audience. I don't think you have to be a New York ballet insider to know that this story is outrageously flawed and full of old cliches. It's a shame, because I think there is a big audience for this type of show. But we can all smell a pile of crap when it's served to us on a platter.

The show didn't "fail". It received Golden Globe noms for Best Limited Series and Best Actress. It's an amazing show, full of dense layers, beautiful cinematography and tremendous performances. You didn't get it? Fine. Plenty did.

Also, it wasn't canceled. STARZ decided, before the show premiered, that it was too expensive to make it into a multi-season show.

Brilliant show, one I'm still thinking about.

Ballet is just a tool for the story of Claire to be told. I don't get the vibe that it wants to be an exact depiction of the Ballet industry satisfying every savvy insider there is. Ballet in and by itself is also just about the art of expressing emotion, thought, motivation, experience of a human-being in the flow of a narrative context through dance. Imo that's true for what the shows wants to achieve as well.

Yes, exactly. I find it amusing that so many on this board have blasted the show for not depicting the world of ballet correctly. That's like saying "Breaking Bad" didn't show how to make meth accurately. Who cares? That's not what it's all about.

Some people just miss the bigger picture and focus on the wrong details. Having said that, Sarah Hay IS a real ballerina, so there's your realism, folks...for those of you who crave it.
