Brother relationship ***SPOILERS***

There be spoilers here. You've been warned! I felt sorry for the brother, for both him & Claire actually. They were both damaged by the dad's mental abuse, but it seemed Brian got the brunt of it even when they were kids. He wasn't the monster Claire says he is. Claire's trip home for thanksgiving made it clear that she was an equal participant. It also shed a different light on when she allowed the strip club bouncers to beat Brian up. Once you understand their relationship was consensual you realize she allowed him to get beat up as payback for him leaving her to join the military, but she had to stay behind to care for their abusive dad while she was pregnant. She kept pulling him back into the relationship by calling him and initiating their sexual encounter, so she contributed to the tragedy of that relationship as much as Brian did. It was just tragic that even Brian thought he deserved to die in the end and let Romeo kill him.

It's so sick. I didn't feel bad at all. She clearly knew and hated herself for screwing her brother. The only thing I felt good about was he was gone at the end as well as the series was over. Very big dissapointment in the grand scheme of things IMO. Nothing really materialized. It felt like a bad spin on Black Swan although the dancing was very nice. The rest was just so-so.

Really? You haven't learned by now NOT to come to a show's message board if you don't want plot points spoiled for you? Especially a show where the entire season has been released specifically for binge watching?

Edited to add: depending on where a viewer is in the series, my entire post is a spoiler, so I put spoiler tags on the whole thing. I apologize for ruining it for you, but honestly, this should be a lesson. I never visit a show's message board if I don't want to be spoiled.

You only recently added that Spoil Alert after the fact OP. I wrote on your thread before you had done that. Anyway , sorry for the spoiler but honestly the second I started to watch I went into threads and was spoiled to the whole show. I did not do it purposely for that matter but that's how it goes with streaming series.

Yes, I acknowledged that in my ETA comment. I also put ***spoiler*** in the thread title for future readers. Its too late to help the few who were spoiled, but I apologized for that. Still, people shouldn't go to a show's message board believing they won't be spoiled. It's basic common sense. Especially since people are going to be at different points in the show. Discussions about anything after the first ep is a spoiler depending on where you are in the series.

Hmmm no it didn't. You need to educate yourself about abuse.

agree. When they were young and he IS the older sibling, I felt he took advantage of his younger sister into the sexual relationship they had. The padlock on her door, and her screaming at him later about the baby and how it disgusted her and she didnt want, showed she was brought into the early sexual relationship because she was vulnerable. Yes, their abusive father factored into that too.

And later when she left both of them, went to persue her dream and her only outlet (Dancing), did she find a way to let all the demons out. But her brother came to HER again, and she felt she needed that comfort level again and allowed herself to have have sex with him again. But her brother realized what he started was wrong, nad tried to leave for good to save her.

So...i felt sorry for both of them, understood Romeo had to kill him to make sure he never came back to Claire and start this torment all over again.
