The Missing Bullet

I thought it was weird how they handled the missing bullet. (The one that killed the Angels Flight conductor.) It seemed so important to them, and they assigned Pierce to look for it.

So he looked for it, and looked for it. They spend five minutes of one episode showing him looking for it. Then he finally found it.

And then nothing. They never mentioned it again. Not even a scene of Pierce telling anyone he'd found it.

That bullet was instrumental in clearing Sheehan, because Lincoln switched the other bullet with a round known to have been fired from Sheehan’s weapon from a prior on-duty shooting. That was the only true sample from the actual murder weapon. Maybe they glossed over it, but not as bad as they did Lincoln. They catch her, interview her, and she’s never seen or heard from again. I can’t believe Connelly allowed them to butcher his work like this.

Was that bullet instrumental in the show [as opposed to the books]? If so, I missed how, just like OP.
