Do we ever see Bosch

unlock or lock his front door? I know he's up in the hills, and I know he's a cop, but who does that? At the end of Series 1, he's heading out to Vegas to visit Maddie, he just pulls it shut behind him. Drives me nuts.

reply

If anything, cops would be more likely to lock the door, bu really like you said, NO ONE leaves their door unlocked.

Maybe he has one of those doors that lock behind him.

reply

Drives me nuts.

Why?

Maybe they don't want to waste 5 seconds of air time showing him go toot toot with his remote every time.

Nitpicking much? If it drives you nuts you've got a problem buddy.

I can lock my front door without using a key. Immediately after I open the door, I simply push the stud in the centre of the door knob and pull it closed after me. No key or any obvious motions involved. I had the same sort of lock in my old house. Isn't this is quite common? I do, however, have to use a key to unlock the door.

As well, I do have a deadlock which I seldom use, because, for some reason, I have a fear of the key snapping off in it. I do live in a fairly safe area with next to no break-ins (touch wood as I say that - don't want to tempt fate).

reply

He's got a deadbolt, and a knob lock that has to be set before closing it behind you. Besides, he's never shown using a key to enter, like when he brought Maddie back from the diner when she hopped a bus to LA.

Honestly, who give a rats behind. There is being accurate with details and then there is the being downright ANAL. I have no desire to watch Boche lock and unlock his door properly. Of the millions of different things they could focus on with this series, in regards to small details, him locking and unlocking his door in a proper manner has to be the very last thing that I would want to see.

Kind of like how Bosch leaves the car window down when he parks his car, regardless of the location or neighborhood. Doesn't drive me nuts, but doesn't seem realistic. Just one of those things, I suppose, where the director eliminates all those mundane things that don't help drive the story forward. Who wants to watch the cops waiting while they raise their power windows. Would add 3 or 4 minutes to each episode.

Keeping the windows down, I do it all the time in the summer. If there is one thing I hate, its getting into a car that feels like your in a toaster over. So I Keep my windows open a lot of the time. Have been doing it for almost 20 years and have never had a single problem from doing it. As for my car stereo, up until a couple years ago, I honestly wouldn't have cared much if my unit got stolen. In fact, they were so low end that the odds of someone even wanting to steal them would have been slim to none. I did finally get a really nice car stereo with my last car purchase, but it has a deatchable face-plate with cryptographic key. That means if someone stole it, they wouldn't be able to buy a new faceplate for it that would work. Thieves know that they wont get squat for such units.

That bugs me too but the one thing in modern TV shows and movies that really drives me nuts is the characters driving late model cars and using handheld mobiles. Don't cars in the US have Bluetooth for hands-free mobiles? (I know they do but why do directors insist on the phones being hand-held?)

... he just pulls it shut behind him.
He may have already locked it.🐭

reply

he has a thumb knob and a giant glass door...reallly!!!!

I'm your daddy and what do I do?

Title of post-'Do we ever see...' See, as in observe him doing it. That still doesn't explain it being unlocked every time he arrives home.

I think he parked his Slick Top or old Jeep on the carport, then entered through the side door. When are they going to change his police car? I know it was supposed to be a "Slick Top" - black and white patrol car without lights on the roof, not a plain black Crown Vic. I have never seen a black Crown Vic in LAPD. I wished they change it to grey, brown, or green. I have never seen Titus Welliver in other show, but I think he has the same physical description as Bosch; shorter than 6' and slim built. He was supposed to have a mustache too. I picture Jerry to be a older. I also thought Irvin was to be white.

He always leaves the windows down in his cruiser when he gets out as well. Drives me crazy. A cop wouldn’t do that. You’re basically asking someone to get into your car. And the way he wears his badge right next to his belt buckle has to be uncomfortable when he sits down.

reply

When he returns to his house he just walks in without having to unlock the door, which shows that he has left it unlocked. This doesn't make much sense when he has left his daughter and ex-wife there because he's afraid bad people are after them. It's a plot hole, not just "anal" trivia. Same thing with J. Edgar sitting on his couch at night with the back of his head toward his huge front window when he knows there are people out to get him. But I don't really care. "Bosch" is my favorite show at the moment.
