We've resisted Amazon Prime, since it's a bit pricey and does not appeal to us. Is Mozart in the Jungle warrant shelling out about $100 a year?

I love Mozart in the Jungle but if that is the only show you like from Amazon Prime don't pay for it. I watch MINJ and other Prime shows which is why I don't mind paying $80 a year for it but you are better off using online streaming websites. I would recommend Couch tuner.com , a free streaming site with no commercials or sign ups. Just make sure you have a wifi connection and type in "Mozart in the Jungle couch tuner" and one of the couch tuner sites should have all 3 seasons.
shareIt's certainly not worth it for this series alone, but Amazon Prime is so worth it for all the other great programming -- not to mention the free shipping. But to each his or her own.
