Would you keep Thor:Ragnarok and Black Panther in theaters until Avengers Infinity War?

If I were Marvel/Disney I would leave both Thor and Black Panther in theaters until Avengers Infinity War. I think both are perfect lead-up films (naturally) and will allow for some audiences to get a bit of background prior to Infinity War.

People are enthusiastic for A:IW but there are many, many potential movie-goers who will just be overwhelmed about the on-goings for this film and will probably avoid it altogether because trying to get fully caught up is too confusing and too daunting.

No theater chain is going to do a 17-20 movie Marathon prior to Infinity War. Some Youtubers are cleverly doing an MCU film per week review (starting at IM1) to get YouTube clicks and honestly that makes a certain amount of sense for neophytes even though there is bias associated with that.

Even though Thor Ragnarok will be out on Blu-Ray March 6th I'd have it in theaters also up to and maybe including A:IW.

Sure, why not.

You might have to give theater chains some incentive to do. But I think it would be worth it as the MCU grows and grows.

I could see Marvel/Disney keeping this around until Avengers: Infinity War even more so now that the BP social comments have been released for the public.

Ragnarok makes Black Panther look like Schindker's List.

What I would do in the months following is, once a week, re-release each of the Marvel movies leading up to the release of Infinity War. Start with Iron Man, next week, Incredible Hulk, next week the next one and so on.

I would not be surprised if they generated some good dollars, especially for the films overlooked in the initial runs.

This absolutely. Not only would this obviously attract fans of the MCU, but also people who are not overly familiar with the franchise and remain very curious about Infinity War. I bet there are many.

The way Cinemark Theaters held a “Marvel Week” last year showing a bunch of the MCU films was great. They showed pretty much all the essential ones. I’m unsure if we should expect other theater chains do something like this again leading up to Infinity War, although that would be fantastic.

And if you time it right....Man-Thing the week of April Fools.

No?

Howard the Duck?
Generation X?

This entire Marvel/Disney endeavor called Long-Form Story telling to this magnitude is just unprecedented and if Disney could have pulled the trigger sooner I bet they would have had their streaming service up and running to kick-off the entry point into Avengers:Infinity War.

They could have had a binge party. Since I already own all of the movies I wouldn't binge that way but content ownership, On-Demand and streaming is where the market is going. Theater chains should be worried. Music stores are mostly defunct, Blockbuster has been replaced with Netflix and Red-Box and Movie theaters have to be concerned with more people have larger screen TV's in their homes and pretty good internet.

Youtubers are doing these week by week retrospectives of the MCU movie-by-movie until Avengers:Infinity War.

Ahhhh, entrepreneurs!
