How much damage will Justice League do to this?

Hot on the heels of Wonder Woman, Justice League looks to be a real monster. Will this film be able to make enough before Justice League sucks all of the oxygen up?

reply

It'll probably make enough before Justice League is released

reply

How much damage will this do to Justice League? Thats the question

reply

Seriously?

reply

Yep. Thor will steal their thunder (pun intended of course)

reply

Absolutely.
DC is going to have to improve their cinematic track record, before anyone considers them a viable threat against Marvel.
One (maybe two) excellent movies doesn't even put them on the playing field yet.
Personally, I hope J.L. nails it hard and is awesome - so we have both Marvel and DC to depend on in film (not just tv).

reply

LOL...DC is totally HOT right now after Wonder Woman.

A second Thor sequel is not getting a lot of buzz.

P.S. I am personally much more excited for Ragnarok but I'm being realistic.

reply

Just FYI, that SJW PC shitfest called Spider-Man Homecoming movie is making more money than WonderWoman.

Thor will do more money than JL as well.

reply

that SJW PC shitfest called Spider-Man Homecoming

OMG, diversity! What horror! Why do we need to make movies resemble the world they're portraying???

I love how "SJW" whiners are such delicate little snowflakes. They can't even handle a movie with less than 70% white people!

XD

Glad to see you are still in full mental breakdown since you were humilliated at the Prometheus Board back in IMDB.

What's up Frog?

Did you release that Hover board yet?

How about that "infinite storage Drive"?

XD

reply

JL is on its way to 1 billion says top scientists.

"Glad to see you are still in full mental breakdown since you were humilliated at the Prometheus Board back in IMDB"

Hey if that's what you have to believe to make yourself feel better, then be my guest ;)

reply

:) nothing against you dude.

reply

Okay, "JL" is being released 2 weeks after "TR", so it's 99% sure that JL will surpass TR at the box office for a weekend or two.

Given that "JL" is supposed to be a monster future-of-the-franchise effort and "Thor" is a comparatively minor film starring one of their lower-budget heroes, I'm sure the people at Marvel are okay with losing a few weekends to DC. And that if "Thor" ever overtakes "jl" at some point in December, they'll have a good laugh over it.

reply

not to mention that right after Thor, there's Black Panther coming out, which is fated to be a huge hit.

reply

"BP" isn't coming out until February, the other two films might be out on DVD by then, instead of competing at the box office.

And BTW Jan-Feb is one of those "dumping ground" periods when the studios release all the stinkers they have no faith in, but a lot of people are looking forward to it so I suppose it'll be a case of "BP" having no competition at the box office. Personally I was underwhelmed by Mr. Panther in "Civil War".

reply

I liked him. Never gave him much credit in the comics, but he was portrayed quite well. Like the actor too.

reply

It didn't happen in December but it did happen!

Nice bit of hopeful projection that came true. I don't think Marvel even noticed. Marvel no doubt reacted by using the phrase of T'Challa upon being introduced to Hawkeye, "I Don't Care"! Marvel has their eyes focused on producing better and better films.

JL will have a lot of problems, specially from the fans.

1 - the DC fanatic fanboys that rage and foam from their mouths about "kiddy humor" on the MCU are about to swallow a hard pill with all the forced humor injected in the JL movie [it's no secret that DCEU backtracked with their "oh I'm so serious... look at me... I'm dark and serious... and my brooding makes me look very mature... yuk yuk erp-derp" because - let's be fair here their approach to superhero movies are laughably bad and the Box Office shows it]

2 - By this time, the MCU could release a 2 hour long footage of a turd covered in chocolate and call it "Squirrel Gil", it would still make good money.

3 - Spider-Man Homecoming is making more money than WonderWoman. And Spider-Man HC is a pretty shitty movie with some good moments. How many years have DC fans been waiting for WonderWoman? It should be an unforgettable Box Office success. A legendary triumph. Well, It isn't. And is being beaten by a shitty SpiderMan movie [the sixth SpiderMan movie hitting theaters, I should add].

4 - The DCEU has already shown it can't even do a good Superhero movie with only 2 main superheroes, little less with 5 or 6. By the same degree, the MCU has done a pretty spectacular job with multiple characters. Thor Ragnarok will be just another example of it [and the few reviews that are out are praising the ability the MCU has to handle multiple characters in TR]

5 - Did I already say that DCEU can't do humor without it being forced as hell? It can't.

My predictions:

TR - 1.2 billion or more
JL - 900 million maybe 1 billion

reply

I would be a little surprised if Thor made more than JL or it makes over a billion dollars, the previous two films combined just made a little over a billion. If it did make as much as JL that would be embarrassing for DC by itself.

I would think JL with the boost from WW makes about what BvS did and Thor will probably fall between what the last film made and Spider-Man: Homecoming.

reply

Despite SPHC making good money, there's a lot of discontent about it [SJW PC mentality, way too much Star Wars references - yes, Disney smartly tries to inject their own movies in whatever they can, but becomes obnoxious] and to be fair, although I enjoy most MCU stuff [Civil War and Guardians Vol 1 were pretty good], I found SPHC mediocre at best [with the exception of Michael Keeton, that dude is gold].

Thor Ragnarok has Thor [duh] Hulk, Loki, Dr. Strange, Odin, Hella, Game Master [is that his name] plus at least 3 more characters I can't remember their names [and some heavy names in the industry associated such as Sam Neil]. The trailers look pretty good for a Thor movie [yeah, not a fan of the character neither his previous movies] and will mark a change for the MCU, as well as being the end of a trilogy. It has Goldblum in it! Goldblum, Hopkins and Sam Neil on the same movie? Bring it!!

On the other hand, JL comes from a series of movies that, despite having some degree of success, are riddled with problems [specially with the Superman character] and most people that aren't necessarily fans of the franchise were not that happy with the movies themselves. The rampant introduction of new core characters out of the blue is also not the best approach when building a universe [DCEU really wants a piece of MCU's pie, so they rush things]. Most of their actors are also pretty unknown or lower tier [doesn't mean anything, but it helps to create interest]. The Trailers don't look that good and some VFX are horrendous. And why that dark filter on all DCEU movies? Is it supposed to make it look serious? It doesn't.

I will dare say TR will make a lot of money, and dare say that in comparison to the JL movie it will make more money [people do tend to go to movies to have fun, which is MCUs' approach].

reply

TR is not going to make a billion, let alone 1.2 billion.

Also, Homecoming barely edged out WW worldwide and got it's butt kicked by her domestically.

reply

Movies that are shown across the world isn't made of domestic income. It's made of world wide total income. So, Domestic means squat.

And yes, SPHC is making more money than WW. Both shitty movies, I might add.

As for the total income, we shall see. Haven't been wrong this far.

reply

The studios get the greatest share of the gross domestically. WW kicked Spidey' s butt over here. And, once again, Spidey just barely outgrossed WW globally.

reply

the total income is what drives the movie industry, not localized income. If they were concerned only with domestic income, there wouldn't be american movies shown outside the US, there wouldn't be releases on Europe nor China [as per example] where a big slice of that revenue is.

Who cares if WW "kicked" spidey's "butt" on the US? Really? You are surprised that a movie with a character who is getting her FIRST iteration on theaters is "kicking" spidey's "butt" on his... what... SEVENTH appearance on the silver screen and his own SIXTH movie?
Wow... there really must be something to be proud of... EXCEPT... SMHC is making more money overall.

So yeah...

Domestic: $302,950,227

Hopefully none, and vice versa. Go watch both, people! ;)

I'm geuinely greatly looking forward to both movies. Hope they'll both be god fucking awesome!

The whole Thor theme screams awesome, the JL coming together of heroes and Steppenwolf screams awesome - please make a lot of money, the both of ya!

reply

Yikes. Sorry dude, you may have missed the mark on this one.

reply

How so?

reply

JL looks like crap to be perfectly honest.

- Forced humor
- Still the dark filter because.... reasons.
- Flash is in it because he needs friends [might as well just say "Martha"]
- CGI looks craptastic, specially on Cyborg
- Aqua-Thor
- Iron-Flash
- CGI black dude
- Bat-Nick Fury-Man
- Female Captain America
- Tesseract has a different name
- Thanos is now called Apocalypse
- Loki is uglier this time around and is confused about the word "family". And is called Stepenwolf.
- They almost called the movie The Avengers League: Superman dresses black [with a dark filter]

reply

Haha...fair enough, I guess, but many of those same criticisms were leveled at Suicide Squad and it had a smashing OW and was incredibly leggy. One of the biggest films of 2016.

Just sayin'.

;)

reply

that was a horror fest.

All blue beams of light to the sky must now come with a circle of trash around them.

reply

Flash reminds me more of the MCU Spider-Man (awkward young rookie) than Iron Man. Batman is more of the Iron Man of the group now.

reply

all I know is they couldn't fuck him up more even if they tried to.

How about that X-men's Quicksilver moment in the trailer? [the one flash touches the tip of Female Captain America's sword]

reply

Guess the proof is in the box office. JL couldn't even muster 100 million the first weekend. Sad! Don't get me started on how badly WB has screwed the potential of the DC franchise.

As for Thor: Ragnarok, I can attest that I enjoyed this movie much, much more than I thought I would. Cate Blanchant was deliciously wicked, Jeff Goldblum was himself and Hemsworth was more likeable as Thor than he had been in the previous two movies. This movie was just plain FUN!

reply

Ha, ha, ha... what a failure this post and its creator show...
