Madam Secretary and The Good Wife?
I loved The Good Wife(at least, the first 4 seasons) and I was wondering if Madam Secretary is similar, in any way, to it, because then I would really love to watch it. Any thoughts?

sharePutting my vote in for Good Wife. MS is good - I am halfway through season 1 - but GW was far more gripping for me.
I do have a penchant for character over story and GW feels more character driven while MS the latter. Both have fantastic leading ladies.
I prefer The Good Wife: the characters are more complex, the situations and conversations are better handled and the cast is better. Madam Secretary is a decent show but it's The West Wing's little sister: it's rather common and unsurprising. It's sometimes a bit simplistic when it deals with international affairs. The Good Wife is also simplistic in how they deal with some legal matters but what counts above everything else is the characters, so at the end of the episode, you learn more about Alicia, her colleagues and family than you learn about Madam Secretary's entourage and relatives.
The last two seasons were weaker. But the first 5 were really good, especially season 5 which brought a new dynamic. They didn't try to make Alicia pleasant or lovable. Her coldness and her silence cand be off putting. And the same can be said about the other characters. In Madam Secretary, McCord is flawless. And when she's bad or when she fails, it's because she's too sensitive or sympathetic to the affairs of the world. She was a CIA agent, she can't be that naive.
When they were both airing Sunday nights I loved TGW and MS being in time slots next to each other, it was a nice pairing.
