This episode was just too sincere. [mild spoiler]

That argument between between Bess and the president was just too much for me.

Don't get me wrong -- I like the wish-fulfillment fantasy of this show. I like its ultimately hopeful tone. (I don't like House of Cards for its cynicism.)

But I can't imagine a Secretary of State barging in on the president to give a passioned speech about doing right.

Did anybody else feel that way?

reply

I can imagine it. Worked just fine for me. Recall that she and he were friends before she was Secy of State so she can do things that others may not be able to.

Bess, Russell, and Conrad are the only ones whom communicate like brothers and sisters. (no one else) They curse moan and threaten each other daily. Because they trust each other.

reply

Most secretary of states, no not really.

But Elizabeth is a pretty moral women, who only went into the job because she was promised bringing big changes that needed to be made.

I can believe her reminding him of that little detail.

Plus she and Dalton were friends before she took the job.

reply

And to add to what has been already been said Dalton expects it from her she's his alternative voice
