Episode 1 then nothing for 2 weeks?

What's with having one episode and then nothing for two weeks? Just start the new season in two weeks time for heaven's sake! ๐Ÿ˜
I really cannot understand this mentality and taking 4-6 week breaks with every tv show.

Is it obvious I'm not American?! ๐Ÿ˜‰

If you were American you would understand! ๎€‡

I was just making a joke off your comment. Then I went online to check the TV listings for the next two Sundays in my area, and each Sunday on CBS a new episode is listed. So I don't know where you get your information that they are skipping weeks.

But when they do it is normally because something preempts it, like a sports event or a special broadcast like a political debate or an awards show, something that only comes around rarely and happens to fall at the same time slot as the weekly TV show.

Yes, I know you were joking!

The first episode of Season 3 aired 2/10/2016. The 2nd episode is due 16/10/2016. Surely things like Awards shows or even the presidential debate is known beforehand so why not start the new season after it's done and dusted!
The skipping weeks things is common for American shows. They always have a 4-6 week mid-season break which is bl**dy annoying! Not all of them but certainly the most popular ones do.

Anyway, I'm just ranting - didn't win the lottery!!! ๐Ÿ˜ข

Let me see if I can explain it.... A show has a certain number of episode to air during a season which runs from September through May, approx. Then the network has to add in the planned interruptions(award shows, sports, debates, etc.) Then it has to be considered if a specific episode must air at a certain time(i.e. a cliffhanger right before winter break) and voila! you have your schedule.

The debates are a pain, but necessary. I know people don't understand the sports and award interruptions, but they bring in money the networks need.

And during Christmas holiday season, shows are pre-empted for all the usual Frosty's, "It's a Wonderful Life," " A Christmas Story," etc.

Also, there are many reruns, I suppose because the networks believe everybody is shopping and going to parties every night.

This may not, is surely not, the correct place to ask this, but I think I may have accidentally flagged somebody this morning. Is there any way to tell and any way to undo it?

I really like Madam Secretary but this is my biggest complaint about it. It will air for a week or two at its normal time, then be gone for a few weeks. Its hard to get into and excited about a show when it goes missing for weeks at a time.

reply

Yes, they do that to many tv shows and then scrap them because the ratings have dropped!!

reply

yeah, I have seen that happen to some shows, and it is very unfortunate. MS is an established program, so that won't happen here.

reply

it is not the show's fault- it happens to all networks, and most shows. There is another debate next Wednesday, so programming will be somewhat interrupted that night.

Isn't it time for Super Bowl soon too? As I recall from previous years, some shows get moved around a lot or they broadcast double episodes the following week.

reply

Super Bowl is in February.
