OT-ish: Rise of the Silver Surfer was on the other day...

One of the TV networks broadcasted 'Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer' (2007) the other day, and obviously Chris Evans plays the playboy and cocky type Johnny Storm, or maybe the "comic relief" would be a more accurate description...

I got to say, it's been so long since I saw those F4 movies (and now I see why), and I'm so used to seeing Chris Evans play the hard-core, ever so serious and straight up, loyal guy like Captain America, it's hard to think that he used to be what the Human Torch was.

If anything, since he used to be the Human Torch with the personality like I listed above, you'd think Marvel Studios would have waited to cast him as either Star-Lord, or Ant-Man... but good call on giving him a more different role who would become the glue of the Marvel Universe.

Other than ScarJo, I think Marvel has been spot-on in who they cast for which roles.

I think Pratt's school-boy looks and attitude make him a great Quill, and Rudd's aloofness is perfect for this version of Ant-Man.

"Other than ScarJo"? I thought she's great! She stood out more in the Captain America sequels to be specific...

And yes, Pratt and Rudd really absorb their respective roles... just think, Chris Evans was kinda like them, once.

I seriously just made this thread yesterday

ScarJo is really overrated. The only time she's looked really good was in IM2. Otherwise, she really looks ordinary (except the times where they've highlighted her breasts).

She's never done anything for me, and this was before I saw her without makeup. 

They should have cast someone a little taller and more believable in the role. But, she was hot property and they wanted someone who would "stand out" in a tight, black suit.

I think Glenn Howerton (Dennis from always sunny) would have made an awesome Ant-Man, but I love Paul Rudd. I just think Glenn's always over-the-top demeanor would have amped up the comedy of Ant-Man by a ton. Rudd is funny but in more of a loveable idiot kind of way.

I don't think Howerton would have been a great choice for Star-Lord, however. He was one of the contenders for the role with Pratt.

He could make a good Flash though.
