Despite the fact that this was a strong performer in a year where there were a lot of underperforming films, I believe in terms of Best Picture and overall film quality, storytelling and acting, I believe The Jungle Book has the best chance of winning. That film was some movie magic and looks and feels so fresh and alive.
It also requires no prior viewing to enjoy fully unlike this film which came after over 10 films. That's gonna go against it somehow.
Jungle Book won't win any major awards either. Awards for acting, writing, directing, and overall quality are going to real movies. Google "Oscar contenders 2017" and see how many potential major category nominees are superhero movies or children's films.
