Would you live here?

I guess because I'm from Florida I keep thinking "I would leave this place ASAP!" every second I watch this show. It makes an interesting and frankly, alien-looking environment for me to watch and for that I'm grateful.

How many of you would actually like to live there?

reply

No way. I'm in CT and I'm getting colder just watching it. Can't wait for spring.

reply

haha, I heard that! I can get *chilly* if it's under 80 degrees. I know, it's sad.

Humans tend to acclimate to different temperature ranges. Obviously no one could survive without proper clothing in Fortitude, but they are likely to adjust to some extent.

I grew up in the Northeast, where we'd jump in the lake for swimming if the temp reached 70 degrees. But then I moved to Southern Cal, where swimming pools are ignored until the outdoor temp gets to 90!

From Central Coast Cal now, I commented to a relative in North Dakota that we were having unseasonably cold winter weather at 26 degrees. His response was that that temp was WARM (he was in 15 below).

I would leave on the first flight, way too cold and isolated (and dangerous - having to go around with a rifle because of bears? I don't think so). And I live in Iceland, which is plenty snowy, windy and empty - yet still way better than Fortitude.

reply

I'm from Brooklyn, NY and now live in Houston, TX. I.e., I moved from cold to hot.

Fortitude looks like a fascinating place to visit, but I wouldn't want to live there.

Admittedly, everything I hear about Iceland makes it sound much more appealing, as long as I can spend much more time indoors than out. ;-)

If there were no wasps? I'd like to live there for a year or so. A research project or oil drilling or some such. Long term -- forget it. You go crazy under those conditions, months of darkness followed by months of constant light. Causes depression, alcoholism, wrecked marriages, etc.

Culturally it would be interesting. Might get a bit boring, though the internet brings us all closer together anyway.

reply

I would in a heartbeat.

reply

Me too.

reply

Hell no

reply

I love the look of snow and ice but since wheelchairs can't move around in it I'd say no.
