Difficult to See How They Could Have a Season 2 (spoilers)

I kinda felt that Fortitude would be better as a mini-series than a multi-season show. What's going to happen next? The revenge of the wasps?

I also think that if something like that happened in real life, the residents of Fortitude would have had all kinds of outside assistance (from the CDC, WHO, etc). I also have a feeling that the population of the town would be evacuated.

I think that it was probably a mistake to make the series sort of like a long form version of the X-Files episode "Ice." It would have been more interesting to see the deaths as being the work of a real serial killer instead of Mother Nature.

I wonder if "Fortitude" will have the same path "Broadchurch" had (superb opening season and then a follow on one that struggles for relevance).
