Strange role for DCI Morton *Spoilers*

*Spoilers*

Did anyone else find it odd that Stanley Tucci's character, presumably the protagonist, gets killed off well before the climax of the season? This was really odd. He put on the best performance of the series, and it was really a joy to see him act. He was also the most likable character. I don't know that I've ever seen a series in which the main character passes on so early in the season, and well before the resolution of the plot.

The next most interesting character was Dan (Dormer), but he played more of an antagonist throughout the series.

~After enjoying that movie, I figured I would drop by IMDB to read about its problems.

I think the OP is implying that it was strange to have it written that way.

Yes, the plot required that the character be shot and killed BUT it seemed strange to have the best actor in the series have his story cut off before the end. Though, I suppose, after losing Eccleston so early, we should have been prepared for it!

But, I too thought it was strange at the time. I was duly shocked and distressed...for the character but also distressed for myself because Tucci was the whole reason I decided to watch this!

Yeah he was the best character, I wonder who will take his place season 2.
