This seems confused and weird ... why did the cop arrest the guy

at the murder scene when it was clear he didn't do it?

Then, also how and why was he ever there in the house to find that body?
Maybe the cop guy did it. This show doesn't make any sense. Is this some
kind of monster or vampire show ... someone please tell me so I can tune
out.

Why was the woman behind the door with the rifle aimed at the door when
the police guy walked up to it, but did not knock or enter?

Does this make an effort to be understood at some point?

Police chief arrested the guy because he was found at the scene of the crime, bending over the victim. At that point in time, the guy was a legitimate suspect for the crime. Rember - both the guy and the dead man were newcombers to Fortitude.

Elena had a gun pointed at the door because she didn't know it was Dan, and had recently been attacked & almost raped. Dan did not knock or enter because he realized he was besotted & making a fool of himself.
