I'm working through Season 2 and from the first episode it seems everyone is sort of hating Erik. I know he's a bit incompetent, he was previously, but is there something I have forgotten from the first season about him? Don't want to confuse things by rewatching the first season while I am mid-second.

he was a brute, antagonizing russians in vukojebina (I refuse to call it vukobejina, that's so obviously not correct).
the big ugly russian, yuri i think, saw eric and petigrew fighting, then yuri fell, bunked his head and slept a bit on the floor alone. when he woke up, petigrew and and eric were both gone. later it turned out petigrew was mauled by a polar bear.
this is why yuri thought eric killed petigrew and he broke eric's leg, which eric then lied to hildur about, telling her he stepped into a bear trap.
he was then sent by charly to search for jason.
dan sent him to liam's parents where he found a bloodied shirt in a bin, and assumed liam's dad (forgot the name) must have murdered charlie, cause where else would the blood come from, and he took it.
then it was revealed he had an afair with charlie's wife and hildur found out
dan told him to be rude to what was his name, the british detective, and he was, really, obstinate with him
other than that, interactions with russaians, interaction with the british detective, and interactions with hildur who was pissed with him about cheating, he didn't have much interactions with anyone else, so I wouldn't say everyone hated him.
