Did Philippe really do all those stunts on the wire in real life?

Loved the movie. it was amazing. While i didnt see the real documentary of the man on wire. Im wondering if Philippe really did all those crazy stunts on the wire in real life or was some of it just made up for the movie. Like sitting down on the wire, bowing, laying down seems way to reckless. Im sure he would of just walked back and forth in real life? am i right?

No. He actually did those things. It's all on man on wire.

He did all the things though IRL made 8 passes, not 6. I think the movie has him spend a bit under 30 minutes on the wire, where IRL he spent 45.🐭

If it's true that he did all that was in the film, and even more, then I would have to call the individual an arrogant idiot. I'm sorry but my respect vanished with all those tricks on the wire. Arrogant and extremely idiotic behavior. I can't praise and advocate that. A walk to the other side, and perhaps back, that's enough, I could admire that and the courage to pull it off. But all these tricks, it's not graceful, it's not courage, it's not art, it's just arrogance and idiocy.

Good film though, the high places & vertigo scenes were very hard to watch, I squirmed on the sofa. Probably would have passed out watching this in a theater. Though, when all the tricks started and went on and on, the magic started to vanish and I started to dislike the character and the movie. And surprisingly, I suddenly wasn't squirming that much anymore, although I somewhat fear high places.

The people lapped it up. It's called entertainment and he entertained. Appriciate the artistry and courage. Do you understand the concept of entertainment?

reply

You obviously don't.
