Suitable for Americans; rest of us in the world saw ManOnWire

this is a movie for Americans who don]t watch international films and therefore are not exposed to quality. The rest of us in the world actually watched Man on Wire years ago, so we won't bother watching The Walk as it's old news for us. We've moved on and in spite of a great director the film is redundant and pointless for us so we won't watch it. As usually in terms of art the world remains light years ahead of poor old Coke and Pepsi guzzling, Big Mac face stuffing America.

and your point is?

Sorry; it seems my point should've been clear, but I failed to take into account that English might not be your first language. मैं क्षमाप्रार्थी हूं.

Your position -- which was only intended to provoke a reaction, I realize -- is that Americans are the primary audience for The Walk because the "rest of the world" (ROTW) has already seen Man on Wire. The ROTW, of course, prefers "quality" and is too busy in the pursuit of Great, Mind-Expanding Art to be bothered with such bourgeois distractions.

It seems like that should mean that The Walk would be lapped up by Americans yet ignored by the rest of the world. Instead, it was consumed by the "quality-seeking" ROTW 500% as much as it was in yummy Big Mac-chomping America. Meanwhile, Man on Wire (which I have seen) earned more in the US than in the ROTW. Your conclusion simply doesn't match the results.

Look, the "Stupid zombie Americans have terrible taste in film" line is well-worn, and easily dispelled by looking at reality. I mean, many Americans do have terrible taste . . or, more to the point, little real interest . . in film. Thing is, so does the rest of the world. Movies that dominate the BO here tend to do the same around the world. Seems the Finns love them some Smurfs, Nigerians have an affection for super-hero flicks, etc.

In short, the narrative that film-goers outside US borders are, by-and-large, sophisticated connoisseurs of cinema is straight-up bμ||$hi+. It may be pretty to think so from your POV, and feel free. But, it's simply a useful delusion, which I'm guessing you already know.

In closing, kindly अपने अमेरिकी गधे को चूम.

tldr

Your ramblings fail to draw me in, try again. No need to be overly coherent with lucidity, I don't like overwritten clap trap, far too time consuming, might i suggest a shorter and more concise post I can then reply accordingly.

Logic's a bitch, ain't it? I accept your surrender.

I wouldn't know, tell it to someone who cares

Can dish it out but can't take it. Typical troll.

reply

i dish out the truth, which you then make a futile attempt at inverting so the truth becomes a lie and your falsehood becomes the truth.

It's not gonna happen. Not my watch. You exhibit little to no intellect and therefore are not worth communicating with, bar this reply. You are a waste of time that is frankly not worth the waste.

You attacked us for not knowing quality, but we supported the film heavier than everywhere else in the world, all while watching this less than everyone else.. Your condescending point didn't hold water.. That was his/her point

reply

The film recreates quite brilliantly IMO, the momentous walk and succeeds vicariously in offering the viewer, Phillippe's personal perspective and feelings during the event, which in the documentary could only be transmitted through words and still photographs. Ironically in spite of your heading the film failed (arguably, quite miserably) commercially in North America, whilst performing better financially, in other parts of the world. So besides telling the story first, James Marsh's doco still is undoubtedly the more profitable venture.🐭

I will have you know that I have had exactly ONE coca-cola and zero Pepsis in the past 20 years, and a grand total of ONE big-mac during my 60+ years of face stuffing in America (

Kindly be quiet and don't try to engage with adults or pretend to be someone who actually believes things, as you obviously has no beliefs or convictions.

I feel sorry for your family and anyone who actually thinks you care about them. The joke is on them.

Look, just because nobody reads your posts and as a result you seldom get replies, you don't have to come after me. If you continue to harass me I shall be forced to do what majority of people have done to you: ignore.

If you are going to personally attack me fine no problem, but do so on the underlying premise: films I have criticised as being garbage for dummies like you. Argue your point disprove what you are failing to thus far. Else the status quo applies: you are a dummy who loves to watch garbage because you are too dumb to realise you are far dumber than even the dumbest dummy alive. Though I could be wrong, there are likely to be others like you

Don't bother arguing him on his posts or facts of the films he points out either. He put me on ignore too because he's a child who can't form a coherent argument without resorting to fact free xenophobic nonsense.
