Worst French Accent

Who had the worst French accent Gordon-Levitt, Ben Kingsley or a few of the extras that sounded like they were auditioning for a bad Saturday Night Live skit.

reply

I believe Ben Kingsley's character was Czech. It was mentioned during his introductory exposition.

reply

Good observation. Ben Kingsley's character was not French, so he wasn't doing a French accent. I'm sure your accents are much better and that's why you are a famous actor...oh, wait, no you're not...you're just a rude, uninformed person....

reply

You are rude yourself. The french accents were horrible in this film. Some lines seemed to start with a french accent and finish american. This film should have been made with all french actors.

reply

Are you French? I speak fluent French. Do any of you know how hard it is to fake a good French accent? I am Acadian (family from French Southwest Nova Scotia) and have scores of ancestors from all over France. The first time I was in France (Bordeaux), I was told that my accent was 'adorable' by the natives. Go figure! ;)

reply

They were bad accents.
Too American sounding with the heavy vowels and hard R's

reply

Seeing as the majority in the US don't speak French, I'm sure nobody really cared or noticed minus a few language police such as yourself.

reply

I noticed. In fact I came here to see if anyone else commented on it. the accents were terrible. should have used French actors to play French people. imagine that.

reply

Like I said, only a few language police really cared. I enjoyed a great Robert Zemeckis film. You don't see me really caring when Aiden Gillan's Irish accent shows up in Game of Thrones.

reply

Actually millions of Americans speak French and even non French speakers can hear a terrible, forced accent

reply

I just realized, you are delusional. I just watched Man on Wire with the real Frenchman, and Levitt sounds just like him. You don't know what you're talking about.

reply

Agree. Gordon-Levitt's French was terrible. He mispronounced "merci" for crissakes!

reply

I agree, the French accents at times were so phony and exaggerated that it was distracting. Real French actors would have been better.

reply

Okay, folks, did you vet most of the actors in the cast list who played the co-conspirators? "Annie" - French Canadian :"Jeff" - born I'm Paris: "Albert" born in France...
