Is the Matt Miller and or WBTV in talks with Netflix, Hulu, and TNT? Like second article states?

I don't really know how that works, but I assume that he makes the pitches, while WBTV has to agree to the deal, since they own the rights.

I am the author of the second post and I can assure you that Matt Miller is talking with all three networks. I'd rather see it on TNT but the most important thing's finding a new home.

TNT would be great, since I don't really use the online services. I would for Forever, though.

Do you have any information about how fans can best direct their efforts in that regard? I don't think there's any use complaining to ABC, but encouraging another outlet might be productive.

Patty, I'm not the person you directed your question to, but what I find helpful is to check in on the #SaveForever Twitter feed to see what other people are doing:

https://twitter.com/hashtag/saveforever?f=realtime&src=hash

A lot of fans are contacting the three possible destinations that have been mentioned and urging them to take on the show.

I hope that Netflix or Hulu picks it up. I don't think I can watch it on TNT unless they post it to their website.

I love this show. It's the best new show this season and it rivals many of the shows I've loved in the past. It really needs to have a better chance at gaining a strong audience. ABC didn't give it any help either with the time slot they stuck it in and then, unlike what networks do all the time, they didn't move it to see if it would fare better in another time slot.

I, and others like me, are probably part of the reason ABC cancelled this show because I've been watching it on Hulu. I haven't turned on my TV for months as I prefer to watch shows on my computer. Of course, I'm not a Nielson household either so maybe it doesn't matter.

The reason you could watch "Forever" on Hulu is because ABC is a content partner with Hulu. (More than that, the Walt Disney Company owns a large part of Hulu.) So don't worry, Hulu is reporting viewing numbers to its content partners.

Yes, the Nielsen numbers are important for broadcast viewing.

Good to know. But does it matter to them if people aren't actually watching on their network? I don't know what they get out of it when I watch it on Hulu instead of on ABC.

I much prefer watching TV programs on my computer using HuluPlus, Netflix, and Acorn TV. I can watch what I want, when I want, and I can see and hear better because I'm closer to the screen and the speakers. I'd rather HuluPlus didn't have commercials but they aren't too intrusive so I can deal with it. I really think they have the best regular content so I watch them the most for current programs. I like AcornTV for older British programming. And Netflix I use mostly for movies. So with the three, I'm pretty happy with my viewing choices. But not when a great program like "Forever" disappears.

TVLine's article about its cancellation was blasted with people's outrage. If they just happen to open the page, they'll know how many fans are disappointed and demand a 2nd chance, and with good reason too.

A new message from one of the admins from the Facebook group:

"Over? Did you say over?? Nothing is over until we decide it is!!" From the iconic hipster movie Animal House.

After reaching the depths of despair and frustration last night, a revolution came to us from an unlikely source. An inspiration, if you will, and we have decided that this fight isn't over. If anything, it fully dawned on us what this show has come to mean to such a diverse segment of people, and that means us fans.

There must be an understanding right from the start, however. This battle must be approached in an orderly manner. There will NOT be 100 chiefs all trying to run different shows all at once. We must maintain unity for a concentrated effort. That doesn't mean we won't listen to ideas, however what it does mean is that it's all or nothing. We target Warner Brothers as a first logical step--Forever is their show and they MUST see that we fans want it to be shopped! We are not going to nag every single TV network and other outlet all at once!

We will continue to hold tweet events, ideas welcome! But we need people to back the events 100%! Our next tweet event is on Sunday, details will be forthcoming!

Let's not give up.

Fan Campaigns That Actually Saved TV Shows:

http://io9.com/5875356/fan-campaigns-throughout-history-that-saved-scifi-and-fantasy-tv-shows

In recent years, Jericho received an additional season, and Roswell was saved twice.

--Robin

reply

There are several recent examples of shows being saved even without large fan campaigns. The Killing was cancelled twice by AMC; the first time AMC changed its mind (after season 2), and then it went to Netflix for season 4.

Unforgettable was cancelled twice by CBS. CBS also changed its mind the first time (after the first season) and brought it back for two more seasons, only during the summer rather than the regular season. After the second CBS cancellation, A&E acquired the rights and will show a fourth season.

And Netflix picked up Longmire after A&E dumped it after three seasons.

Thanks for posting these resources complex-gal-1. I tweeted the one article to ABC7 (Eyewitness News), which is my local news station and carries (or did carry) FOREVER, but I'm not sure I did it right. Maybe another user who is better versed in Twitter can send it to them because I'm sure they'd pick it up and use it as an entertainment feature on the news.

Just read online (click link below) and in my local newspaper that Fox's recently canceled show 'The Mindy Project' was picked up by Hulu. This happened less than 2 weeks after Fox decided to axe the show. Not that I watch this turd of a show but this is good news for us loyal 'Forever' fans. It means that there is hope and a better chance now that the same could happen for our beloved show, 'Forever'.

http://www.wired.com/2015/05/proof-fans-rule-tv-now-hulu-saves-mindy-project/

Let us not give up hope and keep pushing forth as loyal, devoted fans by continuing to act now and act hard using whatever media possible to push for the same outcome.

It's interesting that you mention Highlander because the entertaining use of flashbacks in Forever is very reminiscent of how Highlander used that technique very effectively. I'm so disappointed that Forever has been canceled because I was really looking forward to seeing how the show developed the character of Henry using flashbacks (just like Highlander spent years fully developing the character of Duncan MacLeod by using flashbacks).
