anyone have Black Widow in Their top 10 MCU films after seeing it?

I saw BW lastnight.

I'm a big MCU fan....I thought BW was completely average...Not remotely close to the best MCU films.

I was disappointing by literally all the action scenes, Hated what they did with Taskmaster, and thought there was too much comedy.

Positives being I thought Pugh was outstanding and stole the movie and I thought The comedy overall was pretty good(Just too much)

I have BW ranked in at the toward the bottom of the 24 MCU though...

My rankings-

1. The Avengers--10/10
2. Captain America: The Winter Soldier--9.5/10
3. The Avengers Infinity War-9.4/10
4. Captain America:Civil War-9.3/10
5. Avengers Endgame-9.2/10
6. Guardians Of The Galaxy--9/10
7. Thor--9/10
8. Thor 3: Ragnarok-8.5/10

Your rankings don't make sense, you have 8/10s below 6's and 7's

thats because for me theres a difference between "My favorite" and "IMO The better overall movie"

for example.

I think Iron Man(2008) is easily a better overall movie than Thor Ragnrok...But I enjoy TR more and rewatch it more.

Or I feel both Black Panther and SM Far from Home are slightly better overall films than SM homecoming....But I enjoy watching Homecoming more ...

So I makes lists based on both "My favorite and IMO The Best"...I usually rank the movies in order of my favorite and how much I enjoy and rewatch them, But My ratings for the films are based on The Movies overall quality

but there are 3 movies that have the wrong ratings

19. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2-8.5/10
20. Captain Marvel-8/10
21. Ant-Man And The Wasp-8.5/10

^^^

I dont feel the same about these ratings anymore, Heres how I rate them now

19. Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2-7/10
20. Captain Marvel-6.5/10
21. Ant-Man And The Wasp-7/10

I have a list on IMDB that I copy and paste whenever I list the MCU fiilms...Last night after watching Black Widow, I updated the list and then copied here, but I didnt update the ranking for those 3 films

1. Infinity War
2. Endgame
3. Thor Love and Thunder
4. Captain America: The Winter Soldier
5. Guardians of the Galaxy
6. Iron Man
7 Captain America: Civil War
7. The Avengers
9. Spider Man: Far From Home
10. Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2
11. Spider Man: Homecomeing
12. Ant-Man
13. Black Panther
14. Thor
15. Doctor Strange
1.6. Avengers: Age of Ultron
17. Ant-Man and the Wasp
18. Captain America: The First Avenger
19. Iron Man 2
20. Black Widow
21. Thor: The Dark World
22. Iron Man 3
23. The Incredible Hulk
24. Captain Marvel

I liked all of the performances from the main 4 actors, and the interactions between them. I liked the first half an hour or so of the movie overall. The action was boring, the plot was boring(and at points stupid), the villain was terrible. The pacing of the movie was awful, there was about half an hour at least of the movie that was purely talking. The action scenes lacked tension.

Ah, the good ol’ top 10/20 list (and yet another unsatisfied customer here, that’s surprising). Welp, I don’t have a top 10 (hard to rank them). But if I did, I would without hesitation include Black Widow in there. Hell, it may be in my top 5! Goddamn right. Loved every minute of it… took ZERO issue with the Taskmaster reveal… and found it very well-crafted, mad exciting, funny (NOT overdone, flowed naturally to me), moving, and perhaps the most visceral MCU film — the EXPERTLY EXECUTED and intense action in it is perhaps already my favorite in any Marvel film, it was handle exactly how I would expect the action to be handled in a film centered on a character like Black Widow. Now no doubt you had problems with everything about the action, but lol at those I’ve seen call it unrealistic. Good to know the action is RIGHTFULLY being praised by many, though (to hell with hate).

What’s more, I’ll unabashedly say I prefer it to some of the more epic (universally praised) entries in the MCU. Yeah, I was that not disappointed with it! And Florence was fantastic and most certainly deserves all the praise she’s getting, but all the main players completely delivered (go ScarJo!).

So the obvs naysayers (usual propagandist chuds) notwithstanding, I couldn’t disagree more with those calling it average or weak— hem, 1000% disagree with you. Not the best send-off for the underutilized Natasha? I can understand where some are coming from with that, but to me this film did her justice even if I DID think they should’ve delved a bit deeper into her origin. So all in all, I consider this more grounded MCU entry a top-tier film, nowhere near the bottom (the audacity). A worthy prequel! But MCU or not, I think it’s great and memorable all on its own. And sure, outside these toxic circles enough folks are echoing the OP’s sentiments, although I echo the sentiments of many others as well. Now unpopular popular opinion up in this always cheery place… almost over. Enjoy all your well-earned success, Black Widow! Nuff said

Great post and I think this is one of the better MCU entries. Would like to see it again soon on the big screen yet again.

Also interesting that "alienzen" above made the same error, almost as if the two accounts are run by the same person. Seems highly strange that two people would make such an error.

reply

...or i just made a mistake, almost as if I read that post before I replied. That's a weird conclusion for you to get to.

Exactly what an alien would say.

reply

Oh yeah, I meant Rangnorok, lol.

reply

Lol, makes more sense now for sure

reply

It would barely break Top 20 in my list.

ahhhh.....Queenfan known for talking box office despite MISSING BY 50 to 80 M+ 12 different times on a films Opening Weekend.

PS....I still stand by Aquaman....I watched it about 3 months ago for the first times in 2 years.

My opinion is still they same...Its fun and has decent action and a movie I can enjoy....But not a great movie, The two lead actors(Jason and Amber) are absolutely awful....James Wan is the ONLY reason the movie is watchable.

Thoughts on Disney and Disney + set to top NETFLIX and rule the streaming world by 2024?

You read the reports a few months ago right Queen??, The reports that Disney + wildly exceeded expectations and Topped 100 Million + subscribers in 1/3 of the time that was predicted

and according to the reports, With Disney's 3 Streaming channels(Disney +, Hulu and ESPN+) Disney Will top NETFLIX by 2024 to become the dominate force in streaming.

I found these reports quite joyous considering your deep unnatural hatred for Disney

The thought of your pain and misery entering a new stage for the next decade to come really brought a smile to my face....I love how you've had to live PURE HELL watching Disney Dominate the box office/Theatrical world year after year for the last decade.....and NOW The HELL Continues for another decade, but Now you not only get to watch Disney Dominate The Box Office world, But now you get to live through the Misery of Disney also dominating the Streaming world for the next decade

Let me know if you need any links to The reports......lol

PSSSS

remember when you MISREAD deadlines midnight projections for Endgame and WRONGLY thought deadline was reporting EG was coming in at 43 Million and You got so excited to troll you stopped reading the report and rushed back to this site to create a troll thread and Hilariously then Predicted

"300 million looks out of reach. People"s expectations were getting WAAAAY out of control."

But then you just had to make it EVER WORSE and gave us YOUR GREATEST MISS of all time claiming "it will be interesting to see if it can match Infinity War's opening."

and then of course EG ended up opening to 357 Million resulting in you LITERALLY MISSING by an astonishing 100 Million dollars on EG's OW....

and to think....had you just not got so excited to troll and FINISHED reading Deadlines report you would have seen deadline report "EG is at 43 with half the night still to go"

Instead you saw the title of the report and went into FULL Troll mode!

Good times!

Yeah, the movie was okay but not nearly as good as I expected. I was hoping for a Winter Soldier type spy thriller but it ended up being a very safe superhero movie.
