shareWhy is that? Because we know how she died you have no interest in her story? I knew Jimmy Hoffa wasn't going to make it to the end credits, but I watched and loved The Irishman. I already knew the story of Hacksaw Ridge but that movie was fantastic and I enjoyed the hell out of it. Antonius Block wasn't going to beat Death, but The Seventh Seal is one of the greatest films ever made. American Beauty leads with Kevin Spacey telling the audience he'll be dead by the last reel. And really, everyone dies eventually, so why bother to read or watch their story...

shareI think it's a great film, but remember that much of what earned it praise was for things it accomplished that no previous film had done. Welles revolutionized film-making with Kane, and while nearly 80 years later much of what he invented in the film is now so commonplace as to go without notice, at the time it was remarkable.

shareSo now you're resorting to insults? The point is, in every biographical movie about a historical figure, we know the lead character is dead before the film starts. In every movie ever made about anyone, we know the lead character will eventually die. And in plenty of films, we know from early on that the main character will be dead by the end of the movie. None of that matters. You've chosen an entirely arbitrary reason to dismiss the film.
