So Sing premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival as a work in progress, and the reviews from the major publications are surprisingly positive.

Peter Debruge of Variety:

The studio responsible for 'Despicable Me' and 'The Secret Life of Pets' outdoes itself with this catchy jukebox musical.

I don't think that's really saying anything. It seems like he was basing his review on the success of a previous "jukebox musical" type film. That's like calling The Angry Birds Movie the next "Lego Movie." Plus, Pitch Perfect wasn't even that good.

Surprisingly, the trailers look awful. Hopefully this means the actual movie is better than it seems.
