I was wondering why the trailers for this film are played so often. They have played the trailers for this in every film I have attended at the cinema where the film was rated PG. Does anyone know why the trailers for this are played so often?

The distributor Illumination Entertainment likes to throw trailers for their films in front of just about every kids movie prior to their films being officially released. They attached trailers for Secret Life of Pets and the Despicable Me movies (Minions included) in front of several kid-friendly movies as well. They like to go all-out when it comes to marketing their films.
shareThey have to advertise this as much as they can since it's going up against Rogue One, they need to catch the family demographic for counterprogramming purposes.
shareYes it's pretty simple. There's this thing called capitalism and another thing called marketing. The concept is that airtime is available for a price. Those willing to pay for said airtime to market their wares cans buy as many spots as they wish. First come first served.
shareThe company and certain theater chains have this partnership so they're promoting the hell out of this movie.
