So, what do y'all think about this new Sing (2016) movie?

I went to the Sing Saturday screening and I was actually surprised. I had some doubts about the movie from the trailers, but it was actually pretty good. The animation was great and I love how they use songs from the 1950's to right now! The movie also had some good laughs too. In my opinion, the best part of the movie happened during the final act, when every contestant started to perform their song. They all did such a great job that, if they were competing for the money still, picking the winner would be tough. The performers I thought that did a good job from best to least though:
1. Meena
2. Ash
3. Johnny
4. Mike
5. Rosita and Gunter
This movie did have some flaws too. Such as the story and character development. I felt like the movie kind of rushed with developing the characters. The story seemed......formulaic and predictable too. Nonetheless, I still enjoyed the movie! I think if people look at this movie for entertainment, they're going to have a blast. I think this movie will get mixed reviews from both critics and audiences either way because people these days are expecting Oscar-worthy movies. Probably will end around the same rating as Secret Life of Pets (maybe slightly lower). In my honest opinion though, I give it a 7/10. Great family movie!

I watched it today and actually enjoyed myself! It's not a deep, thought-provoking movie and it certainly won't win any Oscars, but it's entertaining and it makes you feel good. That's exactly what I go into animation movies hoping for and that's what it delivered, in my opinion :)

It was good. Most of its detractors are doing that pretentious thing too many people seem to enjoy acting on.

Love the movie, and laughed a lot watching it. All singers were great, particularly liked Johnny. Characters were really likable, except from Mike, because he's a show off and a son of a bitch.

I was pleasantly surprised how good it was. Plenty of LOL moments (especially the auditions) and they didn't go overboard with the covers

I found it to be surprisingly good. I had very low expectations, but I thought it was great as mindless entertainment.
