Look at how many views the trailers had for this movie. It had a TON. How did it underperform in the box office so bad? Was it because of Star Wars? If so, why couldn't they just release it January?

Underperforming? It's at $213m after 3 weeks of release. As a comparison, Moana is "only" at $225m after 7 weeks of release. Sing reached $100m faster than both Moana and Zootopia so it's on track to be a bigger box office success than either of those.
