STOP comparing it to Zootopia/Zootropolis
HELLO? Zootopia didn't invent animal movies. Zootopia has a darker, more elaborated story? Yes. Yes it does. On Zootopia, we have Judy wanting to accomplish her dreams, by methods that include but are not limited to:
a. blackmail
b. association with mafia bosses
c. insubordination
Need I say that IF Zootopia was real life, Judy would've been fired and wouldn't be hired back unless Mr Big had offered Bogo an offer he couldn't refuse?
Zootopia has dark, scary moments, a somewhat relatable character that turns out to be a villain willing to kill to accomplish her goals. Bellwether was willing to kill Judy even tho the latter always supported her and saw her as a friend. (Okay, Johnny wanted to steal the chest with the money, but he changed his mind as soon as he saw how worthy he was to Buster. And guess what? They weren't even friends! Acquaintances, tops. Point is, Johnny doesn't have an evil nature. No character in Sing is particularly bad, except Big Daddy and maybe Mike. And the bear gang. All minor characters.)
Sing on the other hand, has various characters pursuing their dreams, dreams those that as a bonus save McConaughey's theater. It's a kids movie with some story good enough to entertain adults. It's not meant to make you think about life or criticize society's patterns; it's simply made to make you laugh and cry. Is that a hard concept to grasp?
