Umm.. What?

Some movies just really don't need a sequel, this second installment of this movie was cute and entertaining but a third? Really? I have a feeling that it's just going to turn out like Cars did. Cars 2 was decent and then they went overboard and started this whole "planes" nonsense. What's next? "Boats, Trains? Oh my. I just don't see a third movie working out, but hey, that's just my opinion. Most people will have forgotten about the despicable me movies by 2017. These movies started when I was a freshman in high school and it'll be coming out the summer of my sophomore year in college... A bit of a time gap? Like I said, my opinion.

They're releasing a spinoff movie, Minions, next year, so the pattern of a movie roughly every other year still fits. If they're good they should remain relevant.

reply

I think "Boats" is actually out -_-

reply

That was a short, but it wasn't official.

I wouldn't put it past Disney to do that though.

reply

Yeah, it's called 'Das Boot' - but it was quite serious and had a not so happy ending...

If it remains relevant, it will be fine. The first Harry Potter was released June of 1997 while I was still in college. The last movie was released in July of 2011. Universal Orlando opened their second HP park July 8, 2014. U.S. Hollywood will opened their HP sometime in Spring of 2016. Nearly 20 years after first publication, 2 more movies related to Harry Potter are still in the works. I would guess, as long as Despicable Me, like Harry Potter, has fans, movies will be made. If for no other reason... look at Star Wars, James Bond, and Indiana Jones. There are just some things that defy time gap rules.

Did you time travel to 2001 and bring the 1st Harry Potter film back to 1997 to watch with all your College roommates?

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's (Soreceror's) Stone was first released on the 4th November, 2001 in England, and on the 16th of November, 2001 in the USA.

He's talking about the book numbnuts....the first publication was 1997

Cars 2 was decent

That's an opinion, but the rest of the world disagrees.

What's next? "Boats, Trains?

Cars 3 is in theaters June 16, 2017.

Most people will have forgotten about the despicable me movies by 2017.

After "Minions" last year the franchise is even more popular.

reply

Oh, come on. A quarter of a billion dollars on the first one. A third of a billion on the second. This is purely for profit. If it entertains, so much the better, but it is for profit. Period.

What was that, you said what? 😁

reply

Yeah, those nasty movie makers that want to earn a profit on their products. How dare they?

reply

Look, I've got nothing against people making money. I get why it's done.

When it comes to stuff like Despicable Me 3, it's only done for the money. The thing is, there's nothing new here. It's just a shameful sequel which will probably just be a rehash of the same formula the first 2 movies used with some generic writing and generic everything.

They could use the time and resources spent making this movie, to create something entirely new. The first movie was a new thing with new characters and a new world, but once you make a sequel the "new" goes away.

I'd much rather see a whole new thing that's designed to make money over an old thing that's designed to make money.

Cars 2 was terrible. The first Cars was good, 2 was terrible.

reply

Are you kidding?????!!!?!?!?!?!?

This franchise needs 1000 sequels!
