What animal did he turn her into?

I know it's not explicitly mentioned, but what animal do you think he turned the Heartless Woman into?

What animal would you have turned her into?

reply

I dont think anyone is turned into an animal, they are hunted down in the woods, the people who had lot of mind control on them, just cant figure it out. Not unlike it is now.

No, they're not. The people in the woods, with the parkas, are The Loners. Didn't you see the odd animals in the forest? The peacock, or flamingo? Hell, David's brother was the dog that was with him! Or the nose bleed woman, her best friend was turned into a miniature horse.

I'd like to think he turned her into a rabbit and that he ironically eats her later in the movie, but I don't know.

I couldn't decide whether they *were* actually being turned into animals, or if that whole idea was a lie created to force people into finding a partner, but the more I watched the more I think it's possible. Especially because there were some odd animals running around in the woods, supposedly people that had been turned into animals..there was the camel and the pig that come to mind.

reply

Yes, and there was a flamingo as well. So I think they were turning them into animals.

I was going to post rabbit but you beat me to it. I totally agree.

1) The Heartless Woman was a predator by nature; I think they even specifically say this in the movie. Therefore, to her Worst Possible animal she could be turned into would be a poor, defenseless little bunny! The indignity!

2) He wouldn't tell The Shortsighted Woman because he thought it might put her off her favorite meal. ;)

3) This would also explain why he has NO PROBLEM killing the rabbits he catches. Any one of them could be The Heartless Woman--and she's got it coming. =)

I like your interpretation of why he would choose rabbit. So many things in the movie didn't make sense to me (I didn't get the symbolism) but this does make sense.

reply

I think he turned her into the hog we later saw in the woods. If I recall correctly, I think it was being led on a leash and I'd assumed that the leader was planning on butchering it for dinner.

I bet she squealed like a pig when they dug into her flesh! I bet upon hearing her squeals, no one blinked or even cared.

reply

I thought they were using the pig to sniff out truffles?

reply

Exactly, couldn't have been her.

Fine, fine, I'll leave! But first I'm going to bother these peanuts! Hmm? Yes? Hmm? HMM?

reply

John C. Reilly's charcter says with horror in his voice that what he turned her into was "atrocious" so I kept picturing him pressing all different kinds of buttons and turning her into some kind of amalgam of all different kinds of animal, just something really vile.

I don't think I'd have felt bad. She was one of the ugliest characters on the inside I'd ever seen in a film.

reply

At one point in the forest a camel walks by. Maybe I just saw it incorrectly, but I swear, that thing had the head of an ostrich. Maybe that was her.

Dodo, or some other now-extinct animal. that way she'll never find anyone to partner with.
