The more I think about it, the more I like it

I don't know if this is a "thing" but this feels like one of those movies that I like more when I think about it retroactively. While watching the film, despite getting the general idea of what it is an analogy of, I got slightly bored in between the great moments of dark humour, the major character developments and decisions, and the excellent action sequences (such as the brilliantly choreographed fight between Ben Whitshaw and John C. Reilly). This may be a product of how I watch so many blockbusters, although I like to believe I have a good appreciation of more thought-provoking movies. I do understand that it was part of the "point" of the film for everything to be so mundane (going down to the repetitive music) and the concept really works, but that still makes it mundane to me.

I enjoyed watching it thoroughly though, don't get me wrong, I just feel like I enjoy it a lot more when I remember the stand out moments and think of the film and it's message on an overall note.

Anyone feel the same way?

That's exactly how I felt. I just kept thinking about it afterward and came to appreciate it so much more. This actually happens to me with many movies. Sometimes in reverse too.

Glad to know I am not alone. I guess that is a mark of a good movie, particularly one with social commentary. It is good when a film makes you think about it and almost get even more from the movie the more you think about it, the fact that it has some great moments makes it nice to look back on. I would want to rewatch it, but it probably won't have the "rewatchability" that something like Scott Pilgrim (for example) has to me which is a fun combination of blockbuster and indie in a weird way. The Lobster is obviously more subtle and is designed to be something to actually think out, although one could just focus on the dark/quirky humour and the acting in the movie and still enjoy it.
