It's a great commentary.

on the human condition and how silly things like walking through a store and the need to be with a partner is. The way we give up our identities to be with people that supposedly fulfil us but we are always actually alone with an illusion of company. We become animals when we dont have love. We bite we scratch we moan like dogs. David is the common man. He isnt sure what he wants or even his sexuality but he knows he doesnt want to be alone, or does he?

The idea of partnership is absurd if it's to the extent of the society in the film. But they also show us the inverse; absolute independence with zero dependence or help from others, and each extreme is equally absurd. The reality we live in is Inbetween these two extremes, which makes perfect sense, and we have the freedom to decide how much we want to depend on others. We can choose to be alone or coupled. So the criticism only applies to the two fictional extremes presented in the film. I guess the point is "don't take independence THIS far. And also don't take couplehood (couplehood? Lol) THIS far."
And my response is "...Well duh!"

I don't know where you live that people feel a need to have a partner in a store. In fact I haven't heard of any real place where ANY of the things you posit is an actual occurrence of significance.

Perhaps your post was intended to be sarcasm.
