"It's the stew that's got me thinking."

i love that Warren had the confidence to make up the whole stew story and call on Bob's BS!
bet he wasn't even 100% sure about the blood on Sweet Dave's chair.

maybe people dislike this film, but the sleuthing scene was top shelf.

He was pretty good at this. Made up many stories just to get people out of their comfort zone and make them react. I'm pretty sure the story about the general's son was made up also.

reply

yah i agree about the son. he told Ruth earlier that he just shoots people without taking prisoners (or something like that)
in that area, i think Warren also lied about being @ Baton Rouge.

he may have recognized Smithers (?) OR heard him talking with Mannix.
anyway one of my favorite characters in a QT universe!

But the stew story isn't made up. Minnie started it in the flashback. And he used to hang out there before so he knew her stew well.

Good catch (Minnie making it) -- that whole "stew" thing didn't strike me as Warren making something up

After the eventual reveal about his Lincoln letter, that retroactively calls virtually every single thing that came out of Warren's mouth into question. The whole point is that we can never know if what he said was true or false. The best we can do is make an educated guess.

It’s my favourite Tarantino, no idea why anyone wouldn’t like it.

The more I think about this, the more it makes sense.

Though in some ways, Jackson is being portrayed as "a Sherlock Holmes detective using his deductive skills," a lot of what Jackson does is just "guess and provoke people." Oftimes...but not every time..with lies.

The other bit along those lines is when he tells Mexican Bob that Minnie had a sign that said "No Mexicans or Dogs Allowed" -- but she changed it to let dogs in. Well, we saw Minnie treat Mexican Bob fine in the flashback when he came in so...
