I know these lists are a dime a dozen but I'm actually surprised at a lot of people's favourite QT list. Here is mine, I'd like to know what yours are as well.
1. Inglourious Basterds
2. Pulp Fiction
3. Reservoir Dogs
4. The Hateful Eight
5. Kill Bill
6. Kill Bill Vol 2
7. Django Unchained
8. Jackie Brown
9. Death Proof
5. Reservoir Dogs
6. Hateful Eight
7. Death Proof
8. Kill Bill 1&2 (I don't like them)
The first four are my favourites and the only QT movies I can say I honesty love and like to revisit from time to time. The rest are just ok, except for Kill Bill's, I just can't get into them.
I completely agree about Kill Bill. I remember all the hype when it came out but when I finally got around to seeing it I didn’t think it was very good. It’s got some good bits but I can’t rewatch it like I can most of his films.
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Reservoir Dogs
3. True Romance (he didn't direct it, but I still count it as his, unlike NBK and FDTD)
4. Hateful Eight
5. Inglourious Basterds
7. Jackie Brown
8. Django Unchained
9. Death Proof (the first half was great, the 2nd set of girls were completely uninteresting to follow)
....
....
Kill Bill...Doesn't even deserve to be mentioned among the rest. I haven't bothered watching the sequel.
Yeah I’ve tried for so many years to appreciate Death Proof but I just can’t stand it. The first part with Sidney Tamia Poitier and Rose MacGowan was ok at best but the second part was awful. Zoe Bell’s acting was atrocious and Tracie Thoms was annoying as all hell, and in the end it wasn’t even worth it.
Id go:
1 Reservoir Dogs
2 Jackie Brown
3 Pulp Fiction
4 Kill Bill vol 1
5 Inglorious Basterds
6 Kill Bill vol 2
7 Django
8 Hateful 8
9 Death Proof
Ill probably change my mind in the morning on some of them
Q is one of those directors that needs to be seen...i get that everyone wants to object to the racist language, the self-indulgent run times, the sexual violence and the fact that theres almost nobody to ever root for...i tend to agree with all of that
On the other hand he takes chances and i credit anyone who goes 'out there' like he always does
Tarantino gets a ton of flack but hes one of our best living directors
I love his work
Yeah, I sort of chop and change all the time with QT.
I agree with you about him taking risks and that is an admiral trait, but I do also agree with Spike Lee and Denzel Washington in a sense about his use of racial epithets. I get that he's trying to convey the types of characters and the world that they are in, but I think there's definitely a sense of self indulgence when he has most of his characters saying n****r this and n****r that when it's really not called for in the moment, ala Mr Pink and nice guy Eddie in Reservoir Dogs and QT himself in Pulp Fiction. To me that just felt like him wanting to write cool/edgy shit instead of actually being inside his characters heads and writing true to them. You still have to exercise restraint and appreciate that the word has an emotional attachment to people, not just throw it out there whenever you feel like it and hide behind a movie character just so you can use it.
Oh im in complete agreement with you on that
All of those sorts of terms need to be tossed in the dustbin
And our favorite goofy boy director should catch up with the rest of us...i dont know anyone who speaks that way anymore (n word or any of that other sort of thing) and i wouldnt want to
I haven't seen "" yet. Of the rest, I like 'em all for one reason or another, except "Reservoir Dogs," which still has some good points.
1. Pulp Fiction
2. Django Unchained
3. Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood
4. Inglourious Basterds
5. Jackie Brown
6. The Hateful Eight
7. Kill Bill 1 & 2
8. Death Proof
