The ending was a sort of reconciliation of the Civil War if you think about it. Warren & Mannix represented their respective side and with their death there was a kind of closure. With Mamnix reading The Lincoln Letter, knowing of course it was a fake , was symbolic of the sides finally coming together as one nation.

Their final outfits also rather looked the same. Black vest, white shirt- red stripe.

Yeah. I liked that scene at the end. The letter is moving even if it's a fake.
