Ceasar and Harrelson at the end (spoilers)

Did seeing the doll, and rememering the love and mercy that Nova showed him, motivate Ceasar to give up his hatred in the end? Did the memory of mercy triumph over hatred at that moment?

But Caesar's expression started to change the instant the Colonel tried to speak

When he saw the doll he knew that Colonel was infected ,but my tought is that Cesar wanted to show that he is greater "man" than Colonel ,so he let Colonel kill himself

I took it that Caesar, after seeing the men that were infected and hearing the story from the Colonel earlier, figured out what had happened when he saw the doll. Now, I'm sure it would be nicer to think he showed mercy or that caesar wanted to be better than the colonel, but I figured Caesar decided it was better for the Colonel to suffer that indignity than the quick end a bullet would have given him.

Yeah but he left the gun right beside him, so the Colonel could give himself the quick end a bullet gave him.

I don't really like this scene. They could have shown the same fate for the Colonel without Caesar being there.

Placing Caesar there for one final showdown served no real purpose, leaving him looking like he'd learnt nothing having left his tribe to get into trouble previously, he decides to just do the same thing again.

We are humans. Cesar was the villain and the Colonel was the hero in this movie
