Why was she always lying in a car ?

Hi,

Why was Claire always lying in a car ? I know what you will say: because of her pain. But are you sure ? In many scenes it looks that horizontal position causes her more pain: in a car, on a bed, in the swimming pool. I think that she was afraid to travel by car and look straight through the window and that's the reason. She even didn't sit for a minute at the border. It the last scene it seems that her struggle is strictly emotional. When she finally sits straight it seems that she doesn't feel pain. Blur goes away and everything becomes sharp. This also might be a clue that it's because of her perception. What do you think ?

Probably because sitting straight and looking out the windshield reminds her too much of the car accident that killed her son.

Yes, what MavDee said. It was all about looking out or NOT seeing.

The movie even has a line about it not being for pain to let us know it is something else.

Hi, I originally thought it was physical pain too, but as the movie went on, like you, I understood it to be emotional pain/fear to look out the window in front of her! possibly a reminder of the accident she was in? but yes, i think it's her perception!

It's also why she sits up at the end. She's ready to start getting better.

It's a bit of both. She liez in bed a lot in da house too. But mostly it's bout livin life again and not avoidin her fearz dat hauntz her. A lot of da change is seein her son again from da pic her ex gave her and from dat she realize it's time 2 move on face life head on. Somewat gimmiky endin but mo enjoyable than still alice bec dat movie has da awful kstew whose just movie poison.
