What's illegal in the graveyard scene? (minor spoilers)
Worthington hangs that chime/dreamcatcher thing on the branch above his wife's grave. Aniston then comments that she thinks that's illegal. Is it? Why?

shareHanging the wind chime might be illegal.
shareI guess they can have some local law about disturbing order by noise it creates in cemetery, it can be quite annoying for mourning people, selfish from them.
shareA lot of cemeteries have weird regulations about what you can and can't leave in the area. I don't remember if she actually used the word 'illegal' or if she just said that he wasn't supposed to leave it there.
shareIt should be... not everyone enjoys those types of sounds when in a serene or pensive setting. The noise can make it hard to think for some people. I dislike wind chimes and if you put one by my grave, I would surely come back to remove it. The wind in the trees is fine with me. Nature makes some wonderful sounds!
shareLOL, a little off topic I guess but your comment triggered a memory: my mom loves wind chimes and tends to like to "collect" things...so some years ago she started collecting the type of wind chimes that you can find a craft fairs. The simple-looking ones that are basically a piece of driftwood or bamboo with a bunch of aluminum tubes, in various lengths/diameters that cause them to have different pitch/tone. She gradually ended up finding one of almost every size, from very small and high-pitched to very large and low-pitched. She hung them all up in the back yard so she could enjoy them while sitting outside in the evening. One day, she opened the front door to find a huge note taped to the door that said (in red marker, all caps--very aggressive looking): "DEAR NEIGHBOR, YOUR WIND CHIMES NEED TO BE CONTROLLED. NOW."
We knew exactly who wrote the note, because my parents had neighbors on one side, and an empty field on the other. And ironically, one month later, that very neighbor's garage exploded suddenly...cops told us that it was because of the meth lab they had in there. Yeah. MY parents were the bad neighbors with their evil wind chime collection.
But I guess it's a good awareness to have--to some, a wind chime makes a pleasant background noise when the wind blows...and to others, it's such an infuriating racket that they would come back from the dead just to shut them up!
Trust me... I'm not a meth addict! I'm just noise sensitive. "Selective misophonia..." :)

I'll bet those wind chimes clanged like crazy when the meth lab blew up.
shareLOL, if the neighbors hadn't already been on the run from the cops, I'm sure they would have stopped over to leave another mean note, complaining about the noise. The sad thing is, my mom took down all the wind chimes because of those losers. I didn't feel at all bad for them when they got arrested...but I DID feel terrible for their newborn baby who ended up in foster care. :(
HA that reminds me of an episode of "The Middle" with the awful trashy neighbors the Hecks have. Can't remember now who it was that had the wind chimes but Frankie Heck and the neighbor lady (recurring role for Brooke Shields) got into a neighbor war over it. Minus the meth lab, of course. The neighbor lady just drinks a boatload of beer.
shareCheck postings when you enter municipal graveyards. They might be posted as to what you can have for ornaments there.
I've seen postings banning chimes, battery or solar lanterns and so forth.
What you might think is appropriate might be in the trash next time you visit. Your money would be wasted.
