Okay, the ending definitely left room for a sequel. Although it took me time to warm up to this series, that final scene definitely left me wanting to see more.
The series was filmed here in Victoria, BC and this morning our local paper says that despite what has been reported recently the local production team has been told that nothing is final yet.
So if you wanna see a second season, let FOX know... maybe via the site's Facebook page.
That's why I believe they deserve a second chance in a different time slot or day. Brooklyn 99 is a ratings hit for Fox, it's to bad that Fox didn't move Gracepoint, at some point, to Sun following Brooklyn 99 and it could have had a better result.
Shonda Rimes and her 3 hits on Thursday night would be hard for ANY show to beat. Gracepoint was in a face off with probably the most popular of the 3, "Scandal".
Given a new night, if the ratings don't improve then I can see cancelling it, but I think there is plenty of room for a second season.
Ellie moves on, gets employed by another police dept where there is more action than Gracepoint. Carver has his surgery which is very successful and eventually they hook up and work as a team.
I know that the producers have said that it would be only 1 season with 10 episodes but things can change.
They definitely left it open-ended. I think Fox thought nothing else would beat ABC/CBS on Thurs, but maybe this would with Broadchurch having been popular. They also haven't had any other real new hits of the season. They might wait to see how the 2nd season of BC does.
Netflix spent 90 million dollars filming Marco Polo in Italy, Malaysia and Kazakhstan. Bloodline (Kyle Chandler) about a family in the Florida Keys is filming in Florida. Filming in Victoria would not be an issue for Netflix, but I doubt they would have much interest in the series.
