Spoilers + questions

Any spoilers you've been warned.

I'm inbetween cable providers so I missed the finale. I picked up that Tom (the kid) was the killer because his dad wanted to be a pediophile with Danny?

I watched Broadchurch and the lady detectives husband waS the killer because he was a pediophile with the murdered kid. The remake was supposed to be different in the end to give us a reason to watch.

It's really not that different is it? The reason is the same and the killer is still closely connected to the female detective.

Only thing I can think of is because they hoped that people would like it if they didn't see Broadchurch and maybe didn't expect people to compare Broadchurch to Gracepoint and some to suggest who the killer was.

You can make the suggestion that the killer is the same in a way but until I saw it posted here, I didn't know how Danny was killed in Broadchurch.

Yes, Tom killed Danny. The show is basically the same up through Joe's confession. But while in Broadchurch we see him strangle Danny in Gracepoint we see him chase Danny outside and he says that Danny fell and hit is head on a rock. I forget how she put all the pieces together, but while Ellie is talking to her son afterwards she realizes that he must have been there too and she gets Tom's version of events. Tom saw his dad get up and leave the house in the middle of the night and he followed him. He saw Joe being a creep with Danny and then Danny run away. He grabbed a big stick or an oar or something and was swinging it at his dad to keep him away from Danny, but he accidentally hit and killed Danny. Joe then decided to cover it up the same as he did in Broadchurch.

Unless Alpert's covered in bacon grease, I don't think Hugo can track anything.
