I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative.

I think I'll have a large order of prognosis negative.
I usually don't believe most stories in the D.M, but as I've read quite a few interviews that Sarah Lancashire has done, those comments do sound like they've come from her and she had to be persuaded to do the second series. I can't understand why she says it's the end of the story, when it so clearly isn't.
shareSalary ploy?
"One more season would be perfect." - Julian Fellowes
If the second season was disappointing, I would agree and say be done with it. But the writing in both seasons were excellent. I'm not sure what else they could do for her character, but people want to watch.
shareDo it without her. Make the Asian PC the focal point, investigating Catherine's murder (by Tommy Lee....OR IS IT???) with an all male team meeting and getting drunk in strip clubs. Oh, and John survives his high-dive and is exonerated because of a loophole caused by Catherine's incompetence. He's promoted and goes on to be the hero of the story while his wife ends up on a mental ward. A BAFTA? Don't mind if I do.
shareIt's a Ploy to get more Money
If Wainwright wants to do a Season 3 then I cannot see any logic in Sarah not wanting to do it
I agree. I mean, have you read the amazing reviews Sarah has been getting? If Sally can maintain the script quality, she would be crazy to walk away from it.
shareShe has not completely ruled it out. She will wait to see a script. I do not think it is strictly a money thing. She has said she would do LTiH forever. My guess it that it is a good deal less grueling to do. Plus there have been words of without Tommy to rail against what stops it from becoming a regular cop drama?
I think she is right to wait and see.
Oh boy. The pressure is on Sally. But what if Sally writes a great script with the Catherine Cawood character in the lead and then Sarah turns it down? Lots of work for nothing. While it might be smart for Sarah to see a script before agreeing, it shows a lack of respect for Sally Wainwright to take it public in this way. All Sarah needed to say is "We'll see," but for her to be so publicly negative about a Season 3? "Oh I don't want to continue with a series that is brilliantly written, is a huge ratings hit and where I'm getting worshipful reviews." ???
That's why I think it's about money.
She was not initially keen on doing season 2. Easy to think that when you are on top the only way to go is down.
shareTrue.
(I'm glad Coppola made Godfather 2, sorry he made Godfather 3.)
Apparently those comments were made months ago and since then she's talked to the writer and changed her mind:

It seems she's keen to do another series now.Only time will tell how things go.
shareThanks for the update.

Sally is very busy. Plus she probably needs some ideas for Season 3. Let's help her out.
- Tommy breaks out of prison, joins a dating service and is seen wearing a pink cap and clutching a copy of Anna Karenina.
Any other ideas?
Sally shares her thoughts on Season 3. TOMMY!
