Tommy is sure no Joe Carrol

He only had a handful of followers and the only so one far as we know who actually did anything, just talked to Ryan and sent him a present.

In case you don't know Joe Carrol was the psychopathic serial killer who was the lead villain in The Following. Everyone who visited him in prison was also an insane killer except for a very stupid lawyer. His followers would have "rescued" Ryan and left everyone else in the house dead.

Possibly, but this is "Real Life Vs. drivel for US TV".

It is possible that many people are tiring of superficial nonsense. I found the nonsense of "Person of Interest" to be entertaining but I found The Following to be irritatingly stupid with a suspension of belief required every 5 minutes.

Maybe people like Happy Valley, not just for the quality of the writing or the excellent acting but the fact that you could imagine just about everything you see on screen really happening and not just in a TV executive's wet-dream. It's not aimed at brain-dead teens and "adults who should know better" who are FaceTwatting whilst some TV program is on in the background they are only one third watching.

Happy Valley is as close to a 10 as I have seen in a long, long time.

Joe Carrol was one of the most unrealistic characters of modern television...and that's saying something. His "followers" were also unbelievably, well, unbelievable. You can't seriously be comparing that ridiculous twat of a bad trope to Tommy, right?

Ha, I thought of Joe Carroll as well, even though he is a terrible character from an awful show.

I have a feeling that the reveal of all of Tommy's fiancés might come into play next season. He is in prison for life with nothing else to do, so he isn't done manipulating and plotting against Catherine. One of his other women might turn up and be much more unhinged and willing to do more than Frances.

lol are you seriously taking the lame character of that forgettable show as a reference for anything other than poor writing and over the top acting?

Your post and every reply before mine just validate for me my decision not to watch that show!

The Following was indeed bad and unbelievable. I did one season, but no more. Too silly.
