Strains credulity (spoilers)

At the end of season 1, after Tommy is stabbed, he's lying in a pool of blood yet still manages to get up and go outside soon after, following Ryan home from school. He goes into a used clothing shop and buys clothes. Wouldn't there be a lot of blood? Then he walks along some canal and finds an empty houseboat. He's shown taking some pills, but how did he get them? How could he still be alive after losing a lot of blood and not having his wound treated? He also managed to escape the house after Catherine maced him while rescuing Ann.

Is he superhuman?!

He could have sewn himself up and we don't really know how much blood he lost. Some of that blood could have been from Lewis. Also, I am fairly sure he cut himself to use the self defence story so it may not have been deep but still needed treating to avoid infection - it wasn't and he got septicemia.
