Not quite believing Tommy Lee Royce respecting women

Hi there, I am only on the first episode of the second season. I looooved season 1 and was so happy to have season 2!
Just wanted to say, I find a few things unbelievable as I think about this first episode:
1. I think that Tommy Lee Royce doesn't really like women; in that the few women we saw him interact with in season 1, he didn't respect nor have a healthy relationship with. There were only three, but with each he has a marked response to them - he had contempt for his mother and openly smacked her around; he spoke about loving Becky, but beyond that, he hadn't looked for her nor did he talk about missing her; and then with Catherine, he openly called her bitch and had no qualms about smacking her around too. (A fourth "relationship" would've been with Ann, and it's pretty clear there was no respect there). So I find it hard that he would tolerate prison visits from a disheveled sycophantic woman. How did he even meet her? I don't know, maybe I am speaking too soon and it will be explained in the next episodes, but it just didn't ring true to me that he would be sitting, pouring his heart out to this kind of dim-witted person. I am thinking this is probably just a convenient plot device?
On a side note, I didn't think that Tommy would be so vehement about his mother's death - he didn't show much emotion towards her in life, but I am willing to stretch the limits and believe in a latent love for his mother.
2. I don't think they would give such detail to him about the horrendous manner of his mother's death. He doesn't absolutely need to have this information. Why give a psychopath such information, knowing he is volatile and vengeful?
3. I am also unclear as to why Daniel's wife is kicking him out. The two of them seemed thick as thieves in the first season, and yes, relationships change and maybe she has postpartum depression, but again, maybe this will be explained better in the future episode, but until then this strikes me as another plot device.
Alright, just venting.

Just keep watching concerning your number 1.

Keep watching. It'll all be explained. Tommy certainly does NOT respect or have any feelings for that girl. He's totally using her. He doest really care abt his mom all that much either, I don't think. It's mostly an
act. He is psycho, you know?
