Season 3?

Does anyone know if there will be one>

reply

I'm rather hoping there won't be. Quit while you're ahead, and all that.

It is looking like a yes (possibly even 8 episodes). Not written yet. It may be 2 years before it airs.

I heartily agree, supergran. Each time the story is spun out further (with any series, even such a brilliantly-written one), the threads become more tenuous. So I feel strongly that if there isn't a compelling reason to revisit the story, they should let it go and start something new.

You might very well think that. I couldn't possibly comment.

I've heard yes, but Sarah Lancashire won't be in it and it will be a new story.

Then what is the point of having a third season? The show revolves around her character.

reply

Exactly. If she's missing, it's not the same show. call it a reboot. Sheesh.

reply

I agree, she makes the show. I can't believe it's going to take 2 years before we have another season!

reply

According to the trivia on here Sarah has changed her mind and should be returning for season 3.
The sooner the better IMHO

lol yeah right. It's Brit tv, dude, not the NBA. She's not gonna make millions off a six episode season of a tiny show. No Malibu beach house in her future, there.

She probably just wants the show to end before it is stretched beyond what it should be and changed her mind when given a rough idea of the plans for season 3.

Or maybe she just wanted to do a comedy for a change. I can't imagine how intense that show must be for an actress.

Sarah has worked with Sally Wainwright extensively, in recent years. I'm sure that the promise of a great script could tempt her.

reply

As long as Sarah Lancashire still plays the main character, Sally Wainwright keeps writing, and they start a new story-line, I certainly hope there's a season 3! It is frustrating waiting 2 years for new seasons containing just a few episodes, but I prefer the Brits' method (high quality, low quantity) to the way we spit out tons of crap in a short period of time here in the US. Cheers to British tv! :)
