IMDB says Netflix Original but it's not in there just on BBC .
Is it a Netflix original?

No MillyJane, in spite of Netflix having assumed this rather recent affectation of calling shows "Netflix Originals," this isn't one of them, in spite of the erroneous label.
Netflix seems to have some putative explanation for calling shows this (that aren't)--but it's misleading.
"Happy Valley" is on various subscriptions sites and isn't anything close to being an Netflix "original" (or even a Netflix "exclusive") most especially because everybody who can has already seen it when it aired on the BBC and was available on the BBC iplayer afterward.
"House of Cards" on Netflix to me is an example of a "Netflix original" produced and paid for and exclusively on Netflix as their own product. They have others too, made by them and aired only (or first) on Netflix.
Netflix had some lame reason for calling other country's shows "Netflix originals" when they aren't. But I can't remember why.
House of cards isn't a netflix original in any sense, they just pay a ton of cash to Media Rights Capital to retain the broadcast rights. It's not a term that could be comparable to say a HBO original.
It's very questionable as to how netflix are able to use the phrase at all
I don't really care as long as they keep getting the good stuff from Britain :-)

shareIt's not a Netflix original. It's a more like a Netflix exclusive. It's very annoying that they put their brand on shows in that misleading way.
shareI actually believed it was a Netflix 'original' until I saw it had first aired in Britain as a British show. You guys are being polite by using the word 'misleading'.

Many shows get labeled that way out of market. Canadian shows get labeled SyFy originals, Kudos for Cinemax and here BBC for Netflix. This happens even when they were originally broadcast years before.
shareI believe that sometimes when Netflix Original they mean that they have worldwide and repeat broadcasting rights. They also did the same with River and Peaky Blinders, plus several animes.
shareI would wager Netflix pay the bbc to call it a Netflix Original.
shareNetflix bought exclusive rights to air the show in the US and Canada:
