Picture of young Lizzie and her father *spoiler*
It was shown a few times in the film with Liam Neeson obviously portrayed as the father. I think Lizzie was on his shoulders.
In the end in her artwork book it shows that Lizzie had actually created the monster long before Conor encountered it. I haven't read the book but do u think that means the monster probably came to Lizzie when she herself lost her father at a young age? They never say when or how Lizzie's father died but I'm guessing he passed when his daughter was still a child, and it makes me think of all the things she said to Conor... that it's okay to feel angry towards her and she knows everything he feels and it's okay to break things if he has to.. because she lived the same thing on the other side of the situation when her father was dying. It was her monster first and it was there with her at the end, and now it lives on with Conor.
Such a lovely, sad and honest film with a lot of subtleties. It touched me on a personal level but I won't get into that because some things are too painful.
