No way. I lost a parent when I was this kid's age and I was surprised at the maturity this movie showed. This kid is not only being yanked into adulthood in the very worst way possible but he is also a volcano of anger and sadness building up inside and Bayona creates visuals here that not only show that nightmare perfectly but he also never manipulates that whole cancer thing for easy tears. This isn't just another cancer movie, even in the narration that starts the film, it says its about a boy who is more than a boy but not yet ready to be a man. It's also about storytelling and how that can inform and educate us for adulthood, something i've also come to realize through my life as well.
Trying to create a channel based on interpreting, reviewing, and even giving you something to laugh about film. Hope you enjoy what you see. Thanks in advance.
